About Us

A church family rooted in Scripture, united in love, and sent into Des Moines.

Serving Des Moines Since 1980

It started as a vision of one man, Jesse B. Daniels. He gathered a group of 12 believers who shared his vision, and in October 1980, King of Kings Non-Denominational Church was established. The first service was held in the Daniels’ home on November 2, 1980.

From those humble beginnings, the church grew — purchasing a building at 619 SE 15th Street, building a new sanctuary in 1988, and burning the mortgage debt-free in 2005. Under Pastor Jordan Rabon’s leadership since 2014, the church has continued to flourish, reaching over 1,000 people through in-person and virtual ministry and gaining members from across the country.

King of Kings is often described by visitors as the most welcoming church they have ever stepped into. The presence of God is real and the genuineness of the people is overwhelming.

What Drives Us

“Our mission is to be a body of baptized believers living and loving, praying and partaking, serving and sharing. To bring the Kingdom down to earth, that his will be done on earth as it is in heaven. The taste of the Kingdom is not just on Sunday morning, but when we are out in the world and by ourselves. We are kingdom citizens, obeying the word, sharing the word, living out the word as we wait with anticipation and expectation on our Savior’s second coming. Welcome to the Kingdom!”

What We Believe

Our beliefs are rooted in Scripture and the historic Baptist tradition.

📚

Scripture

We believe the Bible is the inspired, inerrant Word of God and the final authority for faith and practice.

The Trinity

We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons — Father, Son, and Holy Spirit — equal in power and glory.

Salvation

We believe salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. It is a free gift, not earned by works.

The Church

We believe the local church is God’s primary instrument for making disciples and bearing witness to the Kingdom.

Church History

Over four decades of faith, growth, and service in Des Moines.

October 1980

Jesse B. Daniels gathered 12 believers who shared his vision, and King of Kings Non-Denominational Church was established.

November 2, 1980

First service held in the Daniels’ home at 702 SE 23rd St. The church then purchased and moved to the stone building at 619 SE 15th Street.

November 27, 1988

A new sanctuary was dedicated, more than doubling seating capacity. The original stone building became the Fellowship Hall.

October 16, 2005

At the 25th Anniversary, the church celebrated burning their mortgage and the completion of the Fellowship Hall Renovation — completed on time and paid in full under Pastor Irvin Lewis, Sr.

2014 – Present

Dr. Jordan P. Rabon assumed the pastorate on October 5, 2014. Under his leadership, the sanctuary was renovated, a Blessing Box was installed to serve the homeless, and the church launched live streaming in 2017, reaching 1,000+ people virtually from across the country.
